SaMoT

Sound, Music, and Technology
in Israel

Our mission

At SaMoT - Sound, Music, and Technology in Israel - we seek to create a shared framework for musicians, artists, technologists, and researchers that supports diverse interdisciplinary activities, including creative work, research, and development, as well as education. By bringing together research and creative practitioners with different strengths and experience we believe we can produce ambitious projects that make a mark. We aim to disseminate the output of our activities both within the local community and by representing the work carried out in these fields in Israel to professional bodies worldwide. On top of this, we plan to share our accumulated professional knowledge through the education of the younger generation of researchers and creators, as well as through outreach to the general public in Israel.

Our activities

Check out the documentation of our recent inaugural conference, which took place on May 15, 2025, and was hosted by Bar-Ilan University's Department of Music.

We believe a thriving interdisciplinary community requires a variety of events and opportunities to meet, exchange, and grow. Such activities would include:

  • Festivals, concert series, and exhibitions
  • Workshops and seminars
  • Conferences and symposia

Another dimension of activity is administrative, logistical, and material assistance in promoting and producing research and creative projects.

Additionally, we will strive to document the work done in the relevant fields in Israel through means such as a dedicated website, archive, journal, and publications on social media.
